Getting There
By Air

Chandigarh International Airport (IXC) is located about 12 km from the city center and offers daily flights from major Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and others. Taxis and app-based cab services are readily available at the airport for direct transfer to Shimla.

By Rail

Chandigarh Railway Station is connected to several metros via express trains such as the Shatabdi Express, Kalka Mail, and Paschim Express. It is located around 8 km from central Chandigarh, with easy access to taxis and intercity buses.

By Road

If you're driving in from Delhi, the journey spans approximately 250–270 km and typically takes 4.5 to 6 hours via NH44, depending on traffic conditions. From Chandigarh, the ascent to Shimla covers about 110 km and takes around 3.5 to 4.5 hours along the scenic NH5, passing through the lush Shivalik foothills and charming hill towns like Kalka and Solan.

Day 1
Chandigarh to Shimla (86 km, ~3–4 hours)

Your Himalayan journey begins as you arrive at Chandigarh Airport, where a local representative welcomes you and assists with your transfer to Shimla. The scenic drive along NH5 gradually winds through the verdant Shivalik foothills, ascending into fragrant pine forests and offering glimpses of traditional hill villages.

En route, you can optionally stop at Timber Trail in Parwanoo for a scenic cable car ride (direct payment). This thrilling ride soars above deep valleys, offering your first panoramic mountain views.

Check out after breakfast and begin your journey to Manali. This is your longest travel day, and road conditions can vary. Stop at Pandoh Dam, whose turquoise waters contrast beautifully with the mountain backdrop. Pause in Mandi, the & Varanasi of the Hills," for lunch, then continue through Kullu Valley, known for apple orchards and handwoven shawls.

If time permits, detour to Naggar Castle, a medieval stone-and-wood fort about an hour from Kullu.Arrive in Manali by evening, nestled in the upper Beas Valley.

Here, one can see the majesty of the mountains at its height and splendour. Manali- Chandigarh (Approx 320Kms/07.30Hrs)

Begin your day exploring Old Manali and the ancient Manu Temple, said to be the only temple dedicated to the sage Manu. Proceed to Vashisht village to soak in its natural hot springs and admire the 4,000-year-old stone temple.
